Ying "Ken" Young
January 10, 2016
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth
(Ying Sheung) Young on January 10th, 2016. He was 73. He will be lovingly
remembered by his wife Anna, his children Peter and Susanna. His
siblings: Humphrey (Diane), Leonard (Tina), Karen, Rebecca and Cynthia.
As well as numerous nephews and nieces. Kenneth was pre-deceased by his
first wife Nancy (1986), his parents Jim (2012) and Kam (2001).
Kenneth was born in 1943 in China. His favourite past times were fruit picking,
catching frogs and fishing at night. When he was 15 he travelled to Trinidad and
worked for his Uncle. In 1966, he immigrated to Canada and joined the
rest of his family.
In Winnipeg, he worked in his Uncle’s grocery store in Chinatown...He would later
work in various restaurants and hotels where he was introduced to the culinary arts.
Cooking for large family gatherings became a passion where he took great pride.
He enjoyed watching and cheering on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He loved
swimming, travelling, coin collecting and cultivating his green thumb.
We will all miss him dearly...
There will be a viewing on Tuesday January 19th, 2016 from 1:30-2pm. The funeral
service will begin at 2pm.
