Winnifred MacDiarmid
March 10, 2017
Winnifred (Wynn) Margaret Mary MacDiarmid (nee King)
May 20, 1922- March 10, 2017
Wynn passed away peacefully in the early morning. Many thanks to the staff at Rosewood and West Park Manor for the care they provided over the years.
Wynn was predeceased by her husband Hugh in 2012, after 66 years of marriage. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Bill (Ruth), Don (Lois), Anne (Bob), Jean and Archie, nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Wynn was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, delighting in their accomplishments.
Wynn and Hugh built a cottage at Star Lake in 1960 and they created a haven for their children where they grew up learning the wonders and rigors of cottage life and provided a wonderful legacy for their grandchildren.
Wynn was a dedicated long time member of Sturgeon Creek United Church in Winnipeg and served on many boards and committees and for decades provided support and guidance to the church and outreach ministries.
Cremation has already taken place and at Wynn’s request, a private family remembrance will take place.
Tributes to her life may be made at www.passages.winnipegfreepress.com
As I sail away
Don’t weep for me.
Just wish me a pleasant journey
And wave goodbye;
Loved ones are waiting
With outstretched arms
On the other side.
