WILLIAM KOROLYK
July 3, 1917 – December 30, 2016

Sadly, on Friday, December 30th, 2016, our Father and Grandpa, William Korolyk, passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 99 years. Bill (Willy) will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Joanne Alexander, son Terry Korolyk (Margaret), son-in-law Brian LaPlante, grand-daughter Kelly Dowling (Terry), and grandson Jeff LaPlante. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy and by his daughter Gail.
Bill and Dorothy married on Valentine’s Day 1942 and were married for 73 years; family and friends were always invited to many joyous wedding anniversary celebrations. Bill loved to dance with his wife, and they would be the first to kick up their heels on the dance floor to their favourite tunes.
Bill served with the Royal Canadian Air Force for 27 years and was particularly proud of accompanying Prime Minister Lester Pearson on the round-the-world flight. After his service in the RCAF, Bill and Dorothy retired to Kamloops, BC, where he began a second career as a letter carrier with Canada Post. Eventually, the Korolyks returned home to Winnipeg in 1997 where Bill continued to enjoy his favourite pastimes such as walking, reading, crossword puzzles, talking politics, watching sports, listening to music, visiting with family and neighbours, inventing, and tinkering.
Much appreciation is extended to the staff of Tower 6 at Deer Lodge Centre for the care provided over the last several years. Also, special thanks to Carolyn for her weekly visits with Bill and for her genuine kindness. Any expressions of condolence may be forwarded through www.chapellawn.ca. Please consider a donation of your charity of choice in memory of Bill (Willy) Korolyk.
