William Dennis May
July 29, 1935 – February 26, 2017

Peacefully, with his family by his side, Dennis (81 years) passed away on February 26, 2017 at the Victoria General Hospital, following several strokes.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Peggy May, in-laws Norman and Velma Fenby, and Wayne and Sharon Fenby. Dennis leaves to mourn his wife of 55 years, Shirley; children Derek May, Laura May (Claude), and Debbie Penner (Rolf); grandchildren Iain, Matthew (Meaghan), William, Janessa, Cassandra, Sean and Andrew, and great-grandson Cameron. Dennis is also survived by Shirley’s son Dean (Coreen); grandchildren Brandi (Gatbel), Jodi (Nick), Jesse, and great-grandchildren Malachi, Taliah and Gabriel.
“Dennis the Menace” had a keen sense of humour, and immediately endeared himself to everyone he met. A family joke has always been how the ladies at the bank would refer to him as a “ray of sunshine”.
Dennis had always maintained that he did not want a funeral or reception when he died. In keeping with those wishes, there will be no service. The family will hold a private interment at a later date.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, donations can be made in Dennis’ name to Harrow United Church, or charity of your choice.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the exceptional staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their superb care and compassion. As well, we would like to extend a special thank you to nurse Ian for his thoughtful “You Are My Sunshine” song and also his prayer.
