WALTER NICHOLAS LOTOCKI
With heavy hearts, we announce that our much loved husband, father and grandfather (Gpa) passed away at home on March 12, 2017, with family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Walter (Lodge) was born on March 4, 1938 in Winnipeg, to Joseph and Patricia Lotocki. He graduated from Isaac Newton and went on to a career at CN, retiring in 1995 with over 35 years of service.
Walter and Bev (the love of his life) were married on September 19, 1964. They resided in St. James for 42 years. His daughter Tannis was born in 1968, followed by his son Ron in 1971.
Walter loved travelling, his favorites being South Africa and Israel. He loved gardening and watching sports of all kinds. At Trivia with his friends of many years, Walter was the sports guru. But more than anything, Walter loved his grandchildren who made him proud beyond measure. In spite of his struggles his mission was to watch each of his grandchildren play hockey this past year - he succeeded!
In recent years he enjoyed his time at the lake, just sitting and taking it all in.
Walter will be sadly missed, forever remembered by his wife Bev, daughter Tannis (Dana), granddaughters Carli and Jayden, son Ron (Sue), grandsons Ryan and Jake, brother Bob (Debbie), sister Marion (Keith) sisters-in-law Gail (Jerry), Beryl (Mike) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to family and friends who supported us throughout this difficult journey, Dr. Albak, Roseanne, doctors and nurses of Cancer Care Manitoba and Home Care Services.
Divine liturgy will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Saint Basil`s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt St. at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Walter`s memory to Cancer Care Manitoba or Spirit of Hope Rescue (Plessis Veterinary Hospital at 204-691-8838).
He loved us with all his heart, and in return, we loved him with all of ours
