Margaret Fossen
Peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at St. Boniface Hospital, Margaret, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away.
She is survived by her daughter Kathy (Tony), son Jim (Charlene), granddaughter Nicola, grandsons Jared and Christopher (Lee), great-grandson Zakary, sister Nancy (Claudio), brother Jim (Margaret), brother-in-law Doug, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Barbara and her sister Barbara.
Margaret was born September 24, 1931 in Winnipeg and spent much of her youth growing up in Brandon, Manitoba. She later joined the Canadian Armed Forces and after serving with them for several years she left the forces to devote her time to raising her children Kathy and Jim.
Margaret then spent her remaining working career with Eatons. She first started out working in the wages department and then later on became an administrative assistant in the purchasing department. It was here that her proudest achievement was realized, she self-taught herself how to operate computers.
Mom was an avid reader and enjoyed travelling the globe with her close group of travelling companions.
Even though after retiring from Eatons Mom developed several health issues she faced them all with strength and dignity.
Although the last two weeks were difficult for her, seeing daily pictures of her great-grandson always brought a smile to her face.
Finally, Mom, “Yes” and “We Know” you did it your way, and you will always be in our hearts and mind.
The family would like to thank the extraordinary staff at St. Boniface Hospital for the exceptional caring and compassion they gave our mother during her final days.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Boniface Palliative Care.
