John Unger
November 3, 1941 – August 8, 2015
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our beloved John Unger.

He will be deeply missed by the love of his life, his partner, and wife Sandra Allen – Unger. He also will be missed by his children Jim Unger (Kelly), Lisa McRae (Ian), stepchildren Carrie (Gary) Weinheimer, Kim (Brian) Hyshka, Mike (Gaylene) Allen and ten grandchildren. He will also be missed greatly by his sister Tillie (Ron) Lozinski. Also brother Raymond Unger and sister Pat Loades. John had many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was predeceased by his father Henry in 1951 and his mother Sally McNeilage in 1999.

John and Sandra had the great pleasure of traveling extensively and made many friends along the way. John also had friends that he kept in touch with from his very early years. John was a very warm and sociable person and would strike up a conversation with anyone that he would run into.

One of John’s last wishes was to be able to go home once more and to sit outside on his front landing and “hold court”. He loved to begin his day sitting on the front landing and have tea/coffee with our very special neighbour Tammy. He would converse with all who came along, be they neighbours or strangers. Unfortunately he passed away before this small wish came to be.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. All welcome to attend.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane society or a charity of your choice in his honour.
