John Frederick Ingram
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Frederick Ingram on March 2, 2014 at Riverview Health Centre .
Dad will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years Earla; children Dianne (Terry), Dale, Doug (Sylvia) and David (Colleen), brother-in-law Al Clark (Joanne), sister-in-law Katie Wall, his grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley), Ashleigh (Peter), Leah, Rebecca, Brett and Brynne as well as many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Mabel Ingram, and his brother Maurice Ingram.
Dad was born Sept. 28th 1926 in Winnipeg, and grew up in the North End, attending St. John's Technical School. After graduation he worked at BA Oil, Coca Cola, and then had a long career in Finance at Air Canada, retiring in 1989. Dad married Earla in May 1952, and raised four children in their River Heights home, where they have resided until Dad’s passing.
Dad enjoyed spending holidays as a child at Lac Lu and Minaki, and then with his family at Red Rock Lake. In his later years, his love of cottage life continued with being able to spend Father's Day and Thanksgiving down at Victoria Beach. Dad had a knack for being able to fix anything and enjoyed the challenge of trying to make something work again. He loved tinkering with all the cars and trucks that Doug and David were restoring. Later on, he became skilled at doing custom upholstery. His work was admired by all. He enjoyed puttering in his garden and golfing with Maurice.
Dad’s whole life revolved around Earla, his children and grandchildren. His eyes would light up whenever the grandkids came to visit. He was very proud of all their accomplishments and education, and instilled a strong work ethic. He was always so positive and carried this positivity right up until the end.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Home Care Team and the staff of 3 East at Riverview for making his final days comfortable.
As per Dad’s request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
‘Goodnight Love’
‘Goodbye Daddy’
‘Love you Poppi’
