<div itemprop="description">JAMES DYKSTRA <br>Peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on Sunday, January 29, 2017, James passed away at the age of 88. James will be lovingly remembered by his six children Doug (Heidi), Ken, Don, Arlene Moroz (Clem), Gerald (Cathy), and Karen Heinrich (Dennis) and five grandchildren Jacqueline, Stacy, Robert, Calvin and Russell. He also leaves one sister Eva Stueve (Klaas). He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, his father Joseph (Joe), mother Dorothy, sister Jean, and two brothers Cor and Bodie. Funeral service is to be held at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation to be held from 1:00 to 1:30 prior to service. <br>James was born in Winnipeg, on June 21, 1928. He grew up in the Morris Place area until his family purchased a farm in Rosser, MB. He met and married Dorothy in 1956. They started their life together on the farm and stayed there until 1970 when they purchased a dairy farm in Prairie Grove, MB. In 1980 they purchased a house in Winnipeg where they enjoyed retirement for 33 years. Dad had season tickets for the Winnipeg Jets for several years and was a big fan of both the Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He had a passion for cars and enjoyed going for long drives with Dorothy. <br>The family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood retirement home for their care and the compassion they showed Dad in the final period of his life. We would also like to thank the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for the care they provided with a special mention to nurse Ian who stayed with dad to the very end. <br>In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. <br></div>
