Gwynneth Mabel York
Peacefully, on September 25, 2016, Gwynneth Mabel York (Gwen) passed away. She was predeceased by her husband Vern (2013), brothers Gordon, John and Norman and her grandson Trevor. Gwen is survived by her daughters Gail (Rick Rewniak) and Barb (Doug Cortens), grandchildren, Kyle, Christopher (Meaghan), Jessica (Will) Pattern and Kevin and by her great- grandson Liam. She is also survived by her sister Margaret in Ottawa, nieces and nephews and friends.
Gwen was born in Winnipeg and lived here her whole life. She married Vern York in 1952 and raised her two daughters in Westwood. Gwen prided herself on her homemaker skills and her gardening. She was a great bargain shopper until a few months ago and knew all sales and prices of different items. The Bay will miss her! In her later years she lived at Fred Douglas Place, which she really enjoyed. She spent her last few weeks at Health Sciences Centre; ward H4, where she received compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
