Gloria Florence Lowry
(July 11, 1942 - March 23, 2017)

Gloria Lowry has taken leave of us and in that leaving has left both sadness and memories. The memories will sustain us and make known how proud we are to have shared a life with Gloria.

Gloria Florence was born July 11, 1942. Her first two names were in honour of two cousins, the children of two brothers named Goodsell. Her last name, Rezanson, was from her father who had the good fortune to marry Verna Osachoff and the two had a son Fred and our dear Gloria.

Life in the small town of Kamsack, Saskatchewan offered a special experience where neighbours are friends and sharing is natural. Both qualities, friendship and sharing, would identify Gloria who saw her friends as jewels to be treasured. She attended school in Kamsack and has maintained contact with many of her former classmates.

Winnipeg with the promise of independence and adventure attracted her. With Gloria, curiosity always won out over trepidation. Challenges were to be overcome and were never obstacles. Work filled her time but friends filled her life.

Gloria was particularly pleased to have shared a room in the Sir Hugh John Macdonald House in Winnipeg. First, because it is now the Dalnavert Museum and Visitors' Centre and secondly it was where she met the love of her life, a young, mannered Gordon Lowry. It was a marriage that was into its 52nd year.

Gloria's work ethics made her an ideal entrepreneur and she ran her own business until retirement. Work and play came together when Gloria served as President of the Women's Curling League at the Granite Curling Club. She also served on the executive of the The Women's Canadian Club of Winnipeg.

More recently, Gloria had been active in the Multiple Myeloma Community raising money for research and being active in support groups. The Winnipeg March for Myeloma consistently led in raising funds. Gloria, Gord and their many friends generously participated.

We, her family and her friends, will miss her but know that we valued her friendship as much as she valued ours. Hers was a life driven by curiosity, tempered by dedication and framed by friendship. What a joy to have shared that life.

Gloria requested that there be no Service.
