<div itemprop="description">Eola Johnson<br>(Nee Berthelet)<br>June 27, 1932 – September 1, 2016<br><br>It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eola at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Eola is fondly remembered as a compassionate sister, step mother, step grandmother, aunt and friend. Eola battled cancer for many years and suffered a stroke in July, which forced her hospitalization.<br><br>Eola was born in Laurier, Manitoba, the eldest of 6 children. After graduating from High School, she became a nun and teacher, teaching in various locations in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. After she left the sisterhood she continued to teach in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. After moving to Winnipeg, she married Al Johnson and was immediately accepted by the Johnson family as a step mother and grandmother. Eola was very proud of her new family and loved them all dearly.<br><br>Eola was predeceased by her parents Ovide and Amelie (Assailly) Berthelet, husband Albert Johnson, sister in law Marion Berthelet, Brother Raymond Berthelet. She is survived by her brother Remi Berthelet, sister Colette Mozol (John), sister in law Elizabeth (Betty) Berthelet, brother Paul Berthelet (Elaine), brother Roger Berthelet (Barb), numerous nephews and nieces and great nephews and great nieces, and her beloved step family, Gary (Marilyn), grandchildren Kris and RJ (Chelsea) great grandchild Linnea; Rick (Terry), grand-children Tricia (Jordan) and Mike; Karen (Mark), grandchildren Shea and Jade.<br><br>Eola leaves us with memories of their kindness, caring, humility, sense of humor, graciousness and strength of character in dealing with many challenges that she faced in her journey.<br><br>Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle, 2400 Portage Avenue. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.<br><br>In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.<br></div>
