Ellen Martha Ivory (nee Nell)
1923 – 2015
Peacefully on January 26, 2015 at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, our beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend decided it was time to be with her husband, Neil.
Mum was born December 11, 1923 in Winnipeg. She met Dad in 1942, married on November 1, 1944. They went to Australia to settle, but returned to Winnipeg to take up residence in St. Boniface, St. Vital and East. St. Paul.
Mum was an avid reader, she loved to travel, and she was an excellent seamstress, having made clothes for all her family. She also loved to crochet, knit and rug hooking. She taught these skills to her daughters and we are glad she did.
You always knew Mum was in the room at their many parties, by her contagious laugh. It can still be heard by family and friends.
Mum was predeceased by her husband Neil (1991), sister Sarah Coutts, her parents, William and Rosella Scott.
She leaves her four children, Colin (Georgette), Gloria (Lorne Romas), Colleen (Mark Sopher), and Gordon (Laura).
We, the family, would like to thank the staff of Middlechurch for their many years of kindness, compassion, and care given to our mother.
Respecting Mum’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Ellen’s memory to the charity of choice.
Goodbye Mum, we love you and will miss you a whole bunch.
DEATH leaves a heartache no one can heal
LOVE leaves a memory no one can steal
