Elizabeth Veres (1939-2016)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom (Anyu) and Grandma (Nagymama), Elizabeth Veres, on February 25th, 2016 at the age of 76. Mom was born on September 4th, 1939 and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Suzan Bays and Katrina Van Humbeck (Marc) and grandchildren, Devon and Daen Bays, Blaise, Chase and Kale Van Humbeck, and her sister, Marta Mikova in Slovakia.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother, William Mikova. Mom grew up in Slovakia and moved to Winnipeg with Les Veres in 1968. She worked as a Registered Nurse starting at the age of 17 in Slovakia until her retirement in 1997.

She was an active member of her much loved church, Calvary Temple, for 33 years. Her two daughters and her five grandchildren were hugely important to her. She was an avid flower gardener, loved nature and picking wild berries and mushrooms.

She was very independent to the end and passed on very quickly, 8 days after learning of having wide spread cancer in her system. She transitioned peacefully to be with Jesus in the St. Boniface Hospital with both her daughters by her side. She will be greatly missed. We love you, Mom.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Temple 440 Hargrave St.
Interment and reception immediately to follow at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue.
