Bonnie Versteege
August 5, 2016
Bonnie Lee Versteege (nee Friesen)
1970-2016
Peacefully, on August 5, 2016, after a courageous struggle with cancer, Bonnie passed on surrounded by her loving husband, family and friends.
Bonnie will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her husband Jethro and four step-children; her loving parents Bernice and Jake Friesen; her loving sister Jackie (Doug) and her special niece and nephew Sarah and David; godmother auntie Agnes; as well as numerous family and friends.
Bonnie was born in Winnipeg and graduated from River East Collegiate and attended Red River College for Early Childhood Education. Bonnie took care of many children at On the Move Daycare and RHS Childcare. She graduated from Anokiiwin Training Institute and was employed at the Northwest Company in the Logistics Order Management Dept. for many years.
Bonnie lived for summers, enjoyed swimming and fishing and travelling up North. She had the gift of art and was a creative and talented woman. Bonnie loved family gatherings, being with children, and had a love for all animals. Besides being a beautiful person, she was a wonderful mother to her husband’s children and a loving aunt to David and Sarah. Bonnie was also a strong advocate and supporter of Military Veterans.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd., with Monseigneur Comeault officiating. A memorial social gathering will follow the service at the church.
The family would like to thank the medical staff and support workers at CancerCare Manitoba and the St. Boniface Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care. The family would like to extend appreciation to the Knights of Columbus and to all friends and family for their support and caring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Spread your wings, you are now free Bonnie.
