ANGELO GUZZI
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Angelo Guzzi on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the age of 85. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Francesca (nee Arcuri); sons Frank (Franca) and Albert (Jude); daughters Joanna, Rosemary and Lorraine (Ted); grandchildren Marc, Mike (Darcy), Michelle (Dennis), Andrew, Christopher, Devyn (Kendra), Caressa, Matthew, Ashley, Anthony, Xander, Evan and Willem and great grandchildren, Lucy and Oscar. His sisters Rosina and Francesca, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, Italy and Argentina will dearly miss him. Angelo was predeceased by his infant daughter Giovanna, his parents Francesco and Giovanna, as well as his brothers Carlo, Agostino, Luigi and Felice and nephew Frank.
Angelo was born in Miglierina, Catanzaro, Italy on August 10, 1931, and came to Canada in 1956. Francesca followed in 1958 and together they raised 5 children. On December 11, 2016 they celebrated 64 years of marriage. Their love and devotion was the foundation upon which they raised their children.
Pa was proud of his work in the upholstery industry, and once retired, he enjoyed his winter get-aways in Mexico with Ma. Visits home to Italy as a family provided cherished memories as well. He enjoyed sharing stories of his past as he had a remarkable memory and wit.
Pa loved his family more than anything. He was a gentle and devoted grandfather who modeled unconditional love for his wife, children and grandchildren. Pa was always generous with his guidance and support. He was highly respected and loved by all.
Pa loved to work in both his city and lake gardens. He also loved his cottage time in Loni Beach; family celebrations, watching the waves, and walking with Ma on the boardwalk. All the grandkids benefitted from Nonno buying them an ice cream after supper.
The family would like to thank the palliative care staff at Riverview for their care and compassion. Thanks to Daniella, our special angel. We are forever grateful.
The funeral will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. on Friday, February 10, 2017 with viewing at 10:00 a.m. and mass at 11:00 a.m. Entombment at Assumption Cemetery and Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave. Reception to follow at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
