Alma Muller (nee Lottis)

Alma Muller (nee Lottis), at the age of 92, went peacefully into the presence of her Lord on March 21, 2017. Survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert; her children, Inge (Claire), Norman (Carol), Ray (Rosa), and Ron (Colleen), as well as her 9 grandchildren, Kristen (Greg), Kelly (Zdravko), Stephanie (Scott), Bradley, Samantha (Sean), Emily (Tyler), Sean, Jordan and Taylor and one great-grandchild Clara.

She was loved by her sisters, Martha (Robert), Lilli, Lydia, sister-in law Amanda, cousin Eric, and their extended families. She is predeceased by her parents, Gustav and Ottille, brothers Adolf, Heinrich, Gustav and sisters Sidonie, Elfreda and Edna and daughter-in-law Leah.

Alma was born in Wincentowo, Poland on September 4, 1924. She married her sweetheart, Robert on December 1, 1949 and they moved to Hamburg, Germany to start a family. In 1951 they immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg to restart their lives together. Some of her sisters and brother also immigrated to Winnipeg and the families would spend many fun filled times together. Alma was a determined and hard worker in all that she did. There were many hard times in her life some due to Robert’s health but her determination persevered with no job being too small or menial to provide for her family. She worked alongside her husband in the family business, where she could be seen busy behind the scenes. She loved entertaining, gardening, and the cottage. Many hours were spent together at the cottage with her sisters and sister-in-law knitting and talking (the knitting circle of St. Laurent). Alma had an amazing green thumb, she could make anything grow. Many a morning she would take her coffee, walk and talk to her plants, encouraging them. They listened as her plants and flower gardens would grow and bloom in the most splendid colours. She enjoyed traveling and visited many wonderful places around the world. She was not a sun seeker but would find a shady Hawaiian palm tree and knit. All of her grandchildren have something knit by her as keepsakes of her holiday labours. In her later years she and Robert would spend the winter months in Florida living in their motor home.

Alma’s faith in God was her anchor which comforted her through the difficulties in life, and today she is at peace in the presence of her Saviour. In Winnipeg, she was a lifetime member of the Immanuel Pentecostal Church, from the Ross Street church to its present location; she enjoyed the community, the worship and raised her family within. Her husband and her would spend time each morning in quiet devotion, reading the scriptures and praying for their children and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Immanuel Pentecostal Church, 955 Wilkes Ave, Winnipeg at 11:00am on April 1, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the orphanage, Home of the Good Shepherd in Brazil, (Box 34127, RPO Fort Richmond, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R4T 5T5) http://www.hgsbrazil.org.

A special thank-you to the St. Norbert Care Home staff for their care and compassion towards Alma.
